Toolbox Tuesday: Sound Bath

In the winter of 2024 my bipolar was all over the place and you could also add in perimenopause to that. My whole system was out of balance. I desperately needed a reset. I saw a friends post on Facebook about a sound bath session she had, and I was willing to try anything to find balance.

I was stuck in this period where I didn't want to do anything alone, I isolated myself. But I was ready to just let go of that. I asked on friends on Facebook if there was somewhere local for me to have this experience. I finally found a local studio and I signed up and went. It took a good 20 minuets to talk my self to go inside. To be honest I had zero expectations.

I was so anxious and almost left. Anxiety is a nice addition to Bipolar BTW. But the chimes started we closed our eyes and did a brief meditation. There were tons of instruments. Singing  bowls that are brass or the quartz bowls that relay to each Chakra. Chimes and drums and of course a gong. It was hard to keep my eyes closed and not look for where the sound came from.

Being my first sound bath I didn't really get anything out of it except being really relaxed. But I decided to just keep going.

By my third sound bath I really felt a difference, I felt balanced and relaxed and at peace. It is really hard to explain, the shift. All I know is that it was the only new thing I added to my routine and it was working.

Coming up on the one year mark I don't feel like myself if I don't go. My job is super stressful so I like to go on Sundays so my week can start out in a very peaceful way. Now by no means are my Chakras balanced nor do I use this as therapy. Please please don't think spiritual tools should be the only things used, if you take medication please don't stop taking it and please if you can afford it, seek therapy.

So what do I experience in my hour of sound? Sometimes I see colors, One time I saw and sat with my teenage self on the rocks in the seaside of Maine. Other times I just lay and listen. Sometimes i seek guidance from the universe. It is never the same experience.

Sound bath is not a cure all but it brings me balance and peace that lasts until about Thursday. So by Sunday you can tell I need it. If you have the funds and there is a space in your town, try it, give it at least 4 weeks and you'll know if it is for you.

So why is sound bath so beneficial, Look at it this way we are all vibrational beings and emit different frequencies all through out the day. Sound bath uses vibrations through it's different instruments. Each of the quartz bowls have a frequency that can help with the chakra system. I know it sounds woowoo but there is a lot to learn about the human body and the impacts of sound healing.
